WILDCARD!

WILDCARD: All the stories open mic

WILDCARD

A Participatory Live Storytelling Show
Presented by In a Nutshell Storytelling

WILDCARD happens every third Thursday at Old Soul | The Alley. It’s a welcoming, community-centered storytelling night where anyone can step up to share a true, personal story in front of a room that actually listens.

This isn’t a polished mainstage show, and it’s not a traditional open mic. It’s something in between: participatory, focused, and built around shared attention.

What to know:

🎤 Anyone can put their name in the NOT HAT
⭐ A featured storyteller each month
🧡 A supportive audience that wants you to succeed
☕ A cozy, casual vibe (with sips and nibbles) at Old Soul the Alley
📝 Stories are true, personal, and told without notes
⏳ Each storyteller gets about eight minutes

Storytellers are drawn at random from the NOT HAT each night, creating an unpredictable mix of voices and experiences. Some people tell their first story here. Others return to stretch their craft, test new material, or simply enjoy being part of a room where stories matter.

As WILDCARD grows, we’re shaping the night into more of an experience while keeping it welcoming and participatory. Same spirit, same openness — just a little more focus.

WILDCARD is hosted by Keith Lowell Jensen, with Amy Bee as storyteller-in-residence, and produced by the In a Nutshell team. We’re building a real, in-person storytelling community here in Sacramento, and you’re invited to be part of it — whether you tell a story or just come listen.

Come put your name in the NOT HAT.
Or come cheer for the people brave enough to do it.

Either way, you belong here.
