Hello Nutshell Friends! How’s February treating you?
Wow, wasn’t January’s show fantastic?!
What a turnout. We were so excited to see all of you at our premiere show and hope you’ll be coming back for February.
If you’re new to the Nutshell newsletter and/or haven’t made it to a show yet, first off—Hey! Hello! Howdy! Secondly, you better get yer buns to February’s show because we’ve got some excellent tellers to share with you (see below for lineup).
Co-creator Amy Bee is pretty fond of February, as it’s generally a very cold month, even in sun-worshipping Sacramento, and she likes how it’s a total misfit with its whole 28-day vibe with the occasional 29th day thrown in for the heck of it. It makes complete sense that Amy’s birthday is in February. That’s right! She’s a proud Aquarius (even though she doesn’t believe in that stuff).
Amy wants to know: is everybody okay? Everyone strapped in for the long haul? Good.
Co-creator and host Keith Lowell Jensen is almost finished sharing his novel, Festival, on his Substack page (click his name to read it!), a Carver-esque tale revolving around several different comedians as they make their way to a quirky comedy festival in Northern Califonia.
Keith wants to know: have you quit Meta? Are you hugging your LGBTQ+ friends and neurodivergent family and also reconsidering where you give your hard-earned cash? Good.
And, speaking of novels, co-creator Aaron Carnes is typing away at his dystopian-speculative-magical-death music novel, trying to get in 500-600 words here and there, wherever he can. He’s also torturing Amy Bee by playing nonstop pop music, so much pop music that Amy is ALMOST missing ska. Almost.
Aaron wants to know: are you totally digging FKA Twigs right now, or what? Good.
Our February show is all about “Strange Bedfellows,” and the tellers will be taking that prompt in any direction they like, so expect some kooky-fun stories with a dash of bawdiness here and a touch of pulled heartstrings there.
The storytellers might show us the odd side of what's familiar or shoot us into the weird, warped world of the unexpected . . . whatever they choose, we're ready for the ride and trust that by the end of the night, all their shared emotions, thoughts, lessons, and experiences will leave us feeling more connected, and yes, a little more human.
We're so looking forward to seeing you on February 28!
Take Care,
Did you love watching the tellers tell their stories? Want to learn how to tell yours?
