Hello, Story Friends!
We’ve been talking about this for a while, and it’s finally real. Starting now, about two weeks after our show goes live, paid subscribers will receive a recording of the full Nutshell Show each month. This means not just story clips, but the whole night, start to finish, with every storyteller in order, the way it happened, live.
Seriously, Nutshell is way more than just four awesomely told true stories in a row. It’s also the Keith that goes in between them, which brings its own kind of magic. (That’s right. Our Keithy is a hell of a host! And one of the best storytellers you’ll ever hear, no lie.) Watching the full show is also about being part of an audience that showed up for a whole experience. And our audience is so much fun.
We want everyone who has been asking to see the show but doesn’t live here in Sacramento or can’t make it for whatever reason to have a chance to be part of what we do here at the gorgeous Sofia Theatre every month. And just like ticket sales, the more subscribers we get, the more we can pay storytellers and ourselves. That’s right! This Nutshell thing takes a lot of time and effort. We love it to bits, and we want to keep it going as long as possible.
So if you can, sign up for the $70/year plan (On January 1, it goes to $99—but anyone who subscribes before then keeps $70 for as long as they stay subscribed. Just so you know.) and enjoy the full Nutshell experience.
September In a Nutshell Storytelling: The Long Way Home
One note before you decide.
We had a camera problem at September’s show, and about half the recording came out a little blurry. The audio is awesome throughout, and every story is fully there, but we’re not going to pretend it looks the way we want it to.
We’re figuring this out as we go, and it will improve every month, but you should know what you’re getting before you pay. Now you know. If that’s a dealbreaker, totally fair; subscribe anyway at $70/year, and October’s will be waiting for you in a couple of weeks, looking a whole lot sharper.

September’s show, The Long Way Home, was a beautiful night of heartfelt, fun tales about finding our own way along the myriad paths that make up a life. Sometimes we get lost. If we’re lucky, we also get found. We had Kathleen Taylor walking the Camino de Santiago, Ruven Hannah leaving a continent behind, Maryam Moosavi stranded overnight in San Francisco, and Linda Atousa Salimi escaping a war-torn country as a child.
So, a live recording of our full monthly show. That’s our new thing. We hope you love it.
And listen, if you’re close enough to make it to Sacramento, the live show is always going to be better. YOU KNOW I love seeing all of you out in the world, humans! Dark Hearts is this Friday, October 16, and there are still seats. Come, help us shine a light into the darkness. Then relive the whole show in a couple of weeks if you want. We won’t judge!
See you Friday at The Sofia, if you’re local or local-ish. And if you’re not, October’s show will be here on Substack in a couple of weeks!
Thanks for everything, all of you. We think you’re the cat’s pajamas.
xoxo, Amy and her Nutshell brethren, Keith and Aaron

Finally!!! I’m absolutely thrilled that you’re doing this.
